TALK 2
Teens & Adults Linking in Ketchikan

April 02, 2002
Tuesday - 7:00 pm

Ketchikan, Alaska - On Monday, April 8th, the community is invited to continue the dialogue between youth and adults at the TALK 2 event.

TALK, or Teens and Adults Linking in Ketchikan, begins at 6:00 pm in the Ketchikan High School Commons. Once again, youth will be at the forefront as they will serve as Master of Ceremonies and facilitators.

The evening will begin with a free ice cream social and a brief keynote address from guest speaker, Earl Polk. Polk is a Yup'ik cultural leader from Bethel, Alaska and is well known throughout the state for his work with youth.

After the keynote and ice cream social, everyone will divide into small groups for an interactive discussion led by "talented youth facilitators." Each group will explore community issues that affect youth and then share their ideas with the larger group during a reporting session at the end.

According to the PATCHWorks' news release, "teenagers are encouraged to invite their parents to participate as we have much to learn from one another."

For more information on this event, contact PATCHWorks at 225-4350 or the Ketchikan Resource Center at 247-5767.
