![]() Boost To Economy As 150 Youth And Adults Are Expected To Travel To Ketchikan June 04, 2002
In a news release, Ketchikan Youth Court Coordinator Gretchen Klein said she agreed via teleconference that even with only a four months notice Ketchikan would be able to pull it off with lots of energy and enthusiasm! She stated, "Basically, the youth put on the event and adults help over-see that everything is done correctly." "The State Conference is a youth members' project just like Ketchikan Youth Court, and I expect them to take full responsibility for its success and I stand by them 100%," Klein said. Klein expects 150 youth and adults from all around Alaska to travel to Ketchikan for the event. According to Klein, this is the first time that Southeast would have an opportunity to have this event. She said, "We are excited to be given the opportunity and this will bring added money into the economy!" This annual event was recently held in Valdez bringing youth courts from across the state together for three days of workshops. Judges, Attorneys, Court Administration, and a variety of organizations came together to educate the youth. Klein said that diversity, unity, and individuality are very important. It helps each of the participants learn about new cutting edge developments to help their program succeed. For those who are interested
