In her role as Artistic Director of the local community theater organization, Elizabeth Nelson has supported and initiated many activities involving youth in our community. She nurtures their creative and expressive talents and shows them that they can do anything! Even in an event involving many youth, she knows them by name and helps them discover their hidden talents. In Bugsy Malone, kids with special needs were included in the cast, and their radiant smiles confirmed Elizabeth's loving support.

Elizabeth has partnered in the schools to provide drama experiences to diverse student populations involving students in all aspects of a production. Each year First City Players chooses plays or musicals that children can participate in. Elizabeth has a gift for working with youth of all ages from kindergarten to teenager with exuberance and humor.

Elizabeth is recognized for building the assets of other caring adults, community values youth, youth as resources, positive adult role models, positive peer influence, youth programs, creative activities, cultural competence, interpersonal competence, self-esteem, sense of purpose and positive view of personal future.

Anna Annicelli presented the award to Nelson.
