Public Hearings In Kenai and Anchorage The public is invited to share their experiences and suggestions at the Commission on Tolerance's final public hearings next week in Kenai and Anchorage. Created by Gov. Tony Knowles, the Commission is a six-month task force touring the state to learn the depth of discrimination and racism and solicit suggestions to combat intolerance. The Commission will meet by teleconference over the next month to write a report of finding and recommendations, which is due to the Governor November 30. The Commission is also preparing a community action guide for the public, to highlight some of the best ideas submitted to the commission throughout the public process. The commission has heard from hundreds of citizens and groups representing thousands of Alaskans statewide. Previous hearings were held in Kotzebue, Juneau, Kodiak, Fairbanks, Bethel and several in Anchorage.
