7:30 pm - Friday Night Insight Program - SE Alaska Discovery Center -- NOTE Program will start at 7:30 instead of 7:00. Tlingit and Haida Armor and Weapons will be featured in a slide program by Steve Henrikson, curator of collections of the Alaska State Museum. Images of traditional weapons and armor found in museum collections around the world are featured. Henrikson's lecture will feature slides of artifacts that are today housed in museums around the world. Henrikson has located over one hundred war helmets in museums, along with carved face protectors, and body armor made of thick leather and wooden slats. The helmets have elaborately carved sculptures of clan crests, ancestors, and spirits.
