Ketchikan: Raptors & Hummingbirds...

"Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Hummingbirds (But Didn't Know Who To Ask)" was the Insight program Friday evening at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center. Professional hummingbird devotee Sheri Williamson (right) of the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory was the entertaining and informative speaker. A hummingbird bander

Tom Wood & Sheri Williamson

since 1990, Williamson has banded more species of hummingbirds than any other bander in North America. She is also the author of several magazine articles and two books: A Guide to Attracting and Feeding Hummingbirds; and A Field Guide To Hummingbirds in the Peterson series. Immediately following the presentation, Williamson was available for a book signing event. Over 80 people attended Friday's presentation.

Saturday, April 20th, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, there will be a bird walk with Wood and Williamson at Ward Lake.

Also on Saturday from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center will host a special program - "The Vera Cruz River of Raptors." Naturalist and raptor enthusiast Tom Wood (left) of the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory will be the guest speaker.
